1st Year Engineering Boat Races
The Engineering Boat Races were held on Friday 6 June 2008 at the lake by Oranga at the University of Waikato.
The boats were made by 1st year engineering teams as part of their Introduction to Engineering course. The boats had to be built within budget, time, material and design constraints. Each team raced their boats against the other teams along a pre-set course to test the boat's maneuverablity and speed. The winning team, France, raced their boat against the staff and technician's boats.
In addition, the 4th year students built a petrol powered boat and raced the boat against the staff and technician boats.
